Flourish & Thrive Academy, Business for Jewelers --by Tracy Matthews & Robin Kramer is "where jewelry designers go to get business savvy." They say it in their motto, and after meeting Tracy in person and speaking with her on my own jewelery business, I can vouch. Go there.

APPS + TOOLS
OfficeTime --The best time tracker I've used. Love it! Use the phone app alone, or get the desktop version and use both. It's ideal to realize how much time you're actually spending on jobs to charge accurately. Allows for different hourly rates, projects, categories, and more! This app makes sense of time, if you can believe that!
Metalsmith Suite App on iTunes -- Another suitable app is iMakeJewelry, but Metalsmith Suite by Tim McCreight is more robust and technical. iMakeJewelry does update Kitco prices within the app, but Metalsmith Suite has more number conversions. Why not use both?
Trello --Do you really want to get me started about how much I love this project / client manager? It's like a to do list for the visual artist. It's organization made the way I think. Check it out and see if it works for you too.
Photogemics -- Phone light made specifically for photographing diamonds and gemstones
JCK Online --the ultimate in jewelry news. Jewelers Circular Keystone
Help A Reporter Out --HARO sends daily emails for leads to what reporters want to know; you might have the answer. (being featured = free advertising)
JEWELRY & GEMOLOGY
Field Gemology --if you like gemstones and adventure, this is your place. Vincent Pardieu does not disappoint.
Ganoksin --Ganoksin & the Orchid forums are indispensible to a jeweler like you. I’m sure you are already a member or have used their site at some point.
The Metalsmiths Coffee House on Facebook –-well, the name says it all. It’s like an instant messaging Orchid; can’t get better than that. The top jewelers that I looked up to for 15 years (and still am in awe of their accomplishments) are in there giving advice. It's amazing to be able to ask questions and have conversations with more experienced jewelers to help improve your techniques. You might want to join if you haven’t already.
