My 3 Favorite Bookkeeping Programs
If you’re searching for a bookkeeping program, hopefully you’ve read my post about How to Pick the Prettiest One.
In it I talk about how at the end of the day, all programs do the exact same thing. Some have more bells and whistles, this is helpful if you’ve got a lot of different revenue streams in your business.
And some programs are just plain prettier than others.
If you’re going to use any program, you might as well choose something that’s pretty.
If you want to know my top 3 Favorite Programs, and why, here ya go! All of them are pretty to look at and are accessible from anywhere in the world. Yay for technology!
*I do not get paid to promote these programs. I just really really dig them.*
- Xero– hands down, my favorite program. I use this for my business. It’s got all of the add-ons you need to have a smooth and efficient money tracking routine. You can photo capture your receipts and the add-ons include time tracking, invoicing, customer contacts and the list goes on and on. At this time, they have over 100 add-on options. Also, you can accept payment directly through Xero. They are also the only program to have a partnership with Squarespace, so any product you sell through that website now magically appears in your bookkeeping program. And the only program to partner with Square, again any product you sell now magically appears in your bookkeeping program. **Update from Accounting for Jewelers: Quickbooks integrates with Square too!** The support team is the absolute best and the monthly subscription is reasonable (anywhere from $12-$40ish). I like to call Xero the smartphone that does it all, while other programs are great but may only give you internet access. Did I mention that it also has an app? Genius.
- Wave– one of the easiest tools I have ever used for my bookkeeping. I used this program when I first started my business and highly recommend it to anyone who is brand sparkling new as an entrepreneur. The best part about this program is that it’s FREE. Woo hoo. The support team is fabulous and super helpful. You can photo capture your receipts, link it to Paypal and for a small fee run your payroll through it. Wave is made specifically for those with 9 or less employees, so uber perfect for small businesses and freelancers.
- Freshbooks– a super fun tool! This company has done a great job at putting quirkiness into the stone cold heart of accounting. You can try it for free for 30 days and then their monthly fees start at $19.95/month. Great deal for a tool that prides itself on making billing less of a headache and time consuming for the freelancer and small business owner. They have a fabulous support team where you can talk to a live person during business hours. And for my Canadian friends, this is one of the few programs that I’ve seen that links to a Canadian-based tax software program. This program is perfect if you send out tons of invoices regularly.
To your financial success and happiness,
