Project Management for Jewelers to help with Workflow is a constant concern for getting jobs done on time.
Accounting for jewelers isn’t only about bookkeeping, it’s about keeping you accountable to yourself, your employees, and your clients.
One of the most time-saving and helpful procedures I have implemented with my contract work and collaborative projects is using a project management application or app since we’re 21st century people.
I currently use Asana on both my iPhone and laptop. It works well for communicating with others on projects, assigning projects, and showing they are completed. However, uploading pictures from the phone, which should be the process with the least amount of steps, is not. I have to upload to dropbox first, and then upload it to Asana, a minimal pain, but a pain none-the-less. Time tracking is available for a fee within this program, but I chose to use OfficeTime for this feature instead.
While doing my research to locate Asana, which is free for the version I use, I came across these other workflow managers and one of them may work for you better than what works for me, so here they are:
http://www.proworkflow.com/ Tracks both time and tasks, but charges a monthly fee.
https://basecamp.com/ Seems to be really great at collaborative projects, including written documents. Charges a monthly fee, but has great features for larger groups and links with your calendar.
https://www.smartsheet.com/ Spreadsheet style, can attach files and easily view timeline of when started, what’s been done and when a project is due.
http://www.centraldesktop.com/ Highly social collaboration with documents, videos, and other file sharing, as well as calendar connectivity.
http://missioncontrolhq.com/home Works like a simple checklist or to do list where tasks can be assigned to different people.
Please explore and base your decision on your needs and the needs of your team. Since we’re jewelers, uploading images to quickly translate the status of a project works really nice for me and the people I work for and with. What works for you?
