IMPORTANT UPDATE: July 2017 Shopify to Xero Integration is under New Management
[info ]Mgmt: BOLD APPS for Shopify to Xero integration[/info]
Still Free! Still the same great app!
Shopify has sold the management of their Xero Integration to BOLD Apps; however, nothing has changed regarding the functionality and features.
Here’s how to find the correct Xero App if you’re new to Xero:
- Here is the URL for direct access: https://apps.shopify.com/xero, otherwise, go to Shopify.com and click Apps from the menu.
- Search for Xero
- Look for the one pictured above by BoldApps: Xero Integration
If you have the existing free Xero integration, you will have to do the following:
- In your Shopify Dashboard, click Apps
- Select Xero
- You will be prompted to accept the new terms: new management and read to confirm you agree before proceeding. Our concerns are that the features are the same and that it is still free.
- If you’ve found some orders were not being pushed to Xero during this time, then find the date of the first order missing. In Shopify, go to the Xero App integration panel and change the beginning date to the date of the first order that is missing in Xero. Keep the end date as the most recent date. Click Export to instantly push over any missing transactions.
If you haven’t mapped it, click here for instructions on mapping your Shopify Account to Xero.
The Shopify Xero App is a seamless integration. There are no 3rd parties needed to have the two platforms “talk” to each other. Orders are sent over directly to Xero as Sales Invoices.
Downside: You can only map to 1 (ONE) Revenue Account. If you have many different revenue streams or types of goods, be aware of this.
Upsides: WaaAy more advantages than disadvantages.
- You can use Shopify POS and have all of your Sales under one roof auto creating in Xero to match to the deposits! This is great if you want to get rid of Square and manage your finished inventory quantities in one place. Plus, POS and web sales are identifiable by the Order Number prefix.
- The correct tax rate is listed in Xero per line item. No other POS or eCommerce integration does this! and it’s one of the many reasons WE LOVE SHOPIFY as bookkeepers!
- You can choose to have your customer info sent over to Xero or use a Generic Shopify Customer for all sales if you don’t want to muddy up your Contact list in Xero with one-off purchasers.
- Item details are sent over, such as Sku, description and per item price to Xero, so it’s not just one lump total.
- Customers can pay via direct Checkout managed by Stripe, to go direct to your bank account, or they can pay with PayPal. With the integration, you map these options to your respective Checking Account and PayPal Bank Feeds. The integration managed by Bold auto marks the invoices in Xero as Paid to the correct account to make your life easier during reconciliation. YAY!
Thank you Shopify, BoldApps and Xero for creating and maintaining the BEST website ecommerce to accounting software integration!
